Southside Constituency - Nicola Sturgeon
|

Described by commentators as "the main thorn in the side of Labour" |
Currently Deputy First Minister and Health Secretary, Nicola has worked hard as an MSP to improve communities, support local businesses and stand up for her constituents. She campaigned against unfair cuts to local post offices, schools and community centres and argued successfully to stop local nursery closures, improve local transport links and stop the Council’s flawed proposals for Pollok Park.
Nicola was born in Irvine in 1970. She joined the SNP at the age of 16 and has been campaigning for Scottish independence ever since. Before she became an MSP, Nicola worked as a solicitor at Drumchapel Law Centre, helping people with legal problems.
She was elected as an MSP representing the city of Glasgow in 1999 and was re-elected as a Glasgow MSP in 2003. In the 2007 Scottish Parliament elections, Nicola won Govan constituency from Labour. She’s currently the SNP’s Depute Leader.
Nicola lives in Glasgow with her husband Peter. |
