Sandra White the SNP candidate for Glasgow Kelvin has today welcomed the SNP announcement of a new £10 million fund to support additional research in Scotland. This will benefit Universities throughout Scotland and will see an additional £2 million coming to Universities in Glasgow.
Ms White said: "This news is great for Universities in Glasgow, which will receive an extra two million pounds. It also comes at a crucial time, when universities are concerned by the present lack of funding and absence of long term thinking
"The SNP will ensure that our Universities remain some of the best in the world and continue to attract the best minds from around the globe.
"This fund, along with our commitment to abolish student loans and write off student debt, shows that we are a party dedicated to the future prosperity of Scotland. This is a commitment to long term, better paid jobs
"This new fund is designed to give Scotlands universities more opportunities to develop the ideas and technologies that can keep Scotland at the forefront of research in areas including renewable energy, life-sciences and supporting medical technologies
"With Alex Salmond as First Minister, the SNP will do everything in our power to build on our nations talents, resources and ingenuity so we can enjoy higher levels of success."
