Glasgows Kevingrove Art Gallery & Museum today has today been short listed as one of the four possible winners of the coveted Gulbenkian prize.
Judges praised Kelvingroves 35 million refit, which has enabled it to target a wider range of visitors and employ new innovative approaches to breathe live into the displays.
Sandra White the SNP candidate for Glasgow Kelvin last week urged members of the Scottish Parliament and the public at large to get behind the Kelvingrove bid predicting it would be short listed this week.
Commenting Sandra said:
This is wonderful news for Glasgow and Scotland and I really hope Kelvingrove takes the prize.
I went there a couple of weeks ago and although its changed a lot since I went there as a kid its still the jewel in Scotlands crown and has become the largest attraction in Scotland.
People can still vote for Kelvingrove and I would urge everyone to do so and help bring this prize to Glasgow
