Described by commentators as "the main thorn in the side of Labour".

Nicola Sturgeon is the SNP Leader in the Scottish Parliament. She has been an MSP for Glasgow since 1999 and is the candidate for Govan in 2007, where she is determined to overturn a Labour majority of 1235 votes.

Nicola was elected Deputy Leader of the SNP in 2004. Later the same year, she was voted Herald Debater of the Year in recognition of her strong performances at the weekly First Minister’s Question Time.

Nicola was formerly a lawyer in Drumchapel, but is now a full time campaigner for Independence. She has been a member of the SNP since 1986.
