Glasgow Kelvin MSP Sandra White today joined thousands of other campaigners at the STUC's 'People First Rally', which was staged in Scotland's largest city.

Sandra joined a host of other politicians and union leaders in addressing the rally.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ms White said: "We must strive towards a Scotland where all have the opportunity to reach their potential and where we live in a fair and just society where inequality is tackled at every level.

"When the gap between rich and poor grows even wider we must stand in solidarity and work together to create greater social equality throughout Scotland. Yes the deficit needs to be reduced but it should not be reduced on the back of public sector workers.

"The Tories and Liberal Democrats at Westminster are damaging the public sector and they must stop that.  Their move on public sector pensions may be dressed up with warm words about it being in worker's own interests, but make no mistake it is a Tory / Lib Dem cash grab  to help reduce the deficit.

"In contrast the SNP is working hard in Government to protect the social and public service values Scotland shares. With no compulsory redundancies, a living wage for all Government and NHS employees, and of course the continuation of the council tax freeze, the Scottish Government is doing all it can to offset the harmful actions of Westminster."
