Sandra welcomes sportscotland decision |

Sandra White, SNP MSP for Glasgow has welcomed the news that the headquarters of sportscotland is to be relocated to Glasgow.
Sandra said;
"This is a massive boost for Glasgow. Some of the most deprived communities in Europe are in the east end of Glasgow and the decision to move the HQ of Sportscotland there can only help with the regeneration that is so badly required.
"I am glad that anti Glasgow lobbying from the Lib Dems who campaigned against having it here was ignored and we can now set about making it a success. It also is a major help in assisting Glasgows bid for the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
"Some questions still remain to be answered though. Will the relocation costs have to come from sportscotlands budget or not? I sincerely hope not and will argue against this. It would be a great hindrance to the development of the whole project and I am calling for the Executive to foot the relocation costs itself. It would be self defeating to move the HQ and then burden them with costs which could prevent the realisation of the goals for which the move was made in the first place!
"I am very pleased at this decision and look forward to welcoming the staff to our great city."
