Sandra praises the dedication of postal workers
Tuesday, 07 December 2010

Sandra White at Clarence Drive Sorting OfficeSandra White MSP for the Glasgow Region has praised the work done by our postal workers at this time of year as Christmas post mounts and especially this year as the cold weather bites.

Visiting the Clarence Drive sorting office in Glasgow on Monday, Sandra met staff and saw at first hand the difficult job and vital service that our postal workers provide for despite the atrocious weather conditions Scotland has been experiencing in the last week the message was clear the post must get through.

Many workers were turning up early to give themselves time to sort through the increased workload and Ms White also praised the workers for going that extra mile by looking out for elderly and vulnerable residents at this time of year.

Speaking at Clarence Drive Sorting office Ms White said: "Every  year I visit offices in the run up to Xmas and greatly admire how the staff cope with all the extra mail during the festive season.  This year I picked the worst day to visit as snow fell heavily, traffic came to a standstill and the roads became treacherous, yet the postal staff went about their deliveries ensuring that mail got delivered.

"I was impressed by the hard work and enthusiasm shown by all and would like to say a huge thank you for all their hard work and just a quick reminder that the last post for first class is the 21st of December and the 18th for Second Class."
