Sandra condemns pointless GHA expenditure
Tuesday, 06 June 2006
GHA propertiesSandra White, SNP MSP for Glasgow has written to the Chief Executive of the Glasgow Housing Association Michael Lennon seeking clarification on the dubious benefits of advertising his organisation.

Sandra said: "I have had a flood of letters from angry constituents on this matter. Some folks are getting bills for £6 - £7,000 for barely needed repairs which they have no option but to pay and at the same time are watching on the telly the GHA spending money to boast of its 'achievements'.

"The GHA is supposed to facilitate the second stage transfer of housing stock yet it appears to think it is a stand alone organisation.  It seems that they are playing fast and loose with other peoples money.

"I will be asking them how much they have spent on advertising and other needless stunts.  I will then be asking them to justify that spend while some tenants and joint tenants are being forced into considerable debt to pay for "improvements" that they say they don't need.  I have also received correspondence questioning the costs to the GHA of having circulated thousands of letters to clients in joint-ownership properties with a letter outlining answers to 'frequently asked questions'.

"I have meetings arranged with Michael Lennon and I will be raising these concerns with him. People are very angry and worried about this."
