Sandra White MSP – helping to make a difference
Tuesday, 01 November 2011

Make a Difference DayAs part of the Barnardo’s “Make a Difference Day 2011” Sandra White MSP for Glasgow Kelvin joined the staff at the Barnardo’s shop at 116 Dumbarton Road in Glasgow Kelvin for one afternoon.

Every year “Make a Difference Day 2011” sets out to encourage people to volunteer in their local communities and to acknowledge the efforts and contributions by Barnardo’s and others voluntary organisations in supporting children services around Scotland.

Barnardo’s Scotland has worked with MSPs and MPs over the last years to celebrate “Make a Difference Day” by arranging for them to spend a couple of hours volunteering in their local Barnardo’s shop within their constituency.

Sandra White MSP commented: “I have volunteered at the same Barnardo’s shop for a number of years and I have always greatly enjoyed it.

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to volunteer again this year and to have the chance to chat to staff and customers.

“There are too many children in Scotland who still struggle to cope with everyday life and I have been more than happy to contribute to Barnardo’s effort to improve the lives of these vulnerable children and would encourage everyone to consider volunteering at their local Barnardo’s shop – even for just a few hours a week.”
