Glasgow MSP, Sandra White has today expressed her deep concern over the number of racist incidents in Strathclyde.
Figures released by the Scottish Executive have shown a marked increase in racist incidents recorded by police in the last year. Almost 3,000 incidents were recorded in Strathclyde more than double the next highest amount recorded by Lothian and borders police.
Commenting, Sandra said:
"It's tragic to think that Strathclyde accounts for almost half of all the racist incidents in Scotland after years of hard work and progress these figures show us that we can not afford to become complacent and I for one will continue to fight and expose racism of any kind."
"I hope that the increase is due to good police work and an increase in intolerance to these types of crime. Racism has no place in Glasgow or anywhere else in Scotland." |
