Sandra White MSP for Glasgow Kelvin has welcomed the announcement that four local groups received up to £10,000 from The Big Lottery Fund.

Street Level Photoworks received a grant of £10,000 in order to organise and deliver a new project for young refugees and asylum seekers. The grant will provide financial support for the new programme of creative photography and animation opportunities which aims on changing peoples' life and on strengthening communities.

St. Joseph's Primary School received a £7,574 grant to provide lunchtime and afterschool sport clubs to all of its pupils to support a healthier and better lifestyle.

Drumchapel Lawn Tennis Club received a £3,500 grant to refurbish its clubhouse and to install water and heat supply as well as an alarm and CCTV system.

Finally, Hazelwood Club received a £3,360 grant to organise and run cookery lessons and exercise and fitness classes for girls aged 14-18 years.

Commenting on the announcement Sandra White MSP said: "This is fantastic news and I congratulate all four groups on successfully securing the grants.

"Local charities have struggled recently to secure funding for the vital work they do within their communities like tackling inequalities and empowering residents.

"These local charities have done a great job and the Award for All grants will ensure the continuation of their work."
