Scottish National Party MSP for Glasgow, Sandra White has lodged a motion to the Scottish Parliament calling for a Referendum of the Scottish People on the issue of Nuclear weapons, specifically Trident and its possible replacement.
Mrs White said: "This issue will not go away because people hide their heads in the sand. Those misguided enough to think that if Gordon Brown became the Prime Minister at Westminster things would only get better, must have been given a rude awakening by his stated determination to spend up to £25 Billions more of tax-payers money replacing Trident on the Clyde."
She went on: "Mr Brown has made many mistakes recently in taking Scots votes for granted and this is his biggest yet. The World needs to rid itself of weapons of mass destruction and we certainly dont want them in Scotland. The Scottish Parliament must hold a referendum of the Scottish People on whether we want these abominations in our country. For my part, and that of the SNP we are wholeheartedly against them." |
