Sandra White MSP

Sandra has been active locally and nationally since joining the SNP in 1983, being councillor for Foxbar, Renfrewshire, for ten years before being elected as a Glasgow MSP in 1999. She is a member of the Equal Opportunities Committee and has served as Deputy Shadow Minister for Health and Social Justice and as a Deputy Whip and is a member of the Party’s National Council. Sandra'’s interests in politics are achieving social justice and the regeneration of Glasgow. She is married with three grown up children.

Sandra White MSPLocal MSP Sandra White today urged the people of Glasgow Kelvin to cast their vote to give three community projects the change to win awards of £6,000 each.

The Royal Bank of Scotland CommunityForce scheme offers local groups and charities the change to win £6,000. Local people are given the opportunity to vote for their favourite projects and the three groups with the most votes in one area will be awarded £6,000 each.

£11m for redeveloping main cultural venues

Sandra White MSPSandra White MSP for Glasgow Kelvin today welcomed the announcement of the Scottish Government to approve funding of £11m for the Scottish Opera and the Royal Scottish National Opera, two of Glasgow's most famous cultural venues.

The Scottish Opera will receive £4m which will be used to upgrade the Theatre Royal's front-of-house area as well as the disabled access.

£40m funding for Glasgow Fastlink

River Clyde, route of FastlinkSandra White MSP for Glasgow Kelvin today welcomed the announcement of the Scottish Government to approve funding of £40m for the Glasgow Fastlink bus scheme.

The high-frequency bus link will run from Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station via Queens Street Station, Central Station, travelling along the north and south banks of the River Clyde via the SECC to the new Southern General Hospital. Journey times will be reduced due to segregated lanes for the bus service.

Sandra White MSP for Glasgow Kelvin said: "This is fantastic news and I very much welcome the Scottish Government’s approval of £40m towards the new bus scheme.

White addresses STUC rally

Sandra addressing rallyGlasgow Kelvin MSP Sandra White today joined thousands of other campaigners at the STUC's 'People First Rally', which was staged in Scotland's largest city.

Sandra joined a host of other politicians and union leaders in addressing the rally.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ms White said: "We must strive towards a Scotland where all have the opportunity to reach their potential and where we live in a fair and just society where inequality is tackled at every level.
