Sturgeon welcoms E.ON back-off
Tuesday, 22 November 2005
SNP Holyrood Leader Nicola Sturgeon MSP has today welcomed the announcement by German company E.ON that it will not make a bid for Scottish Power.

Ms Sturgeon said:

"E.ON's announcement is good news for Scottish Power employees, consumers and shareholders.  Most of all it is good news for the Scottish national interest.

"I hope that the Board of Scottish Power will now resolve to keep the company independent for the long term and resist any future bid in the same way that it has resisted this one."
