Sturgeon joins Ibrox disaster commemoration

Nicola Sturgeon MSPGovan MSP and Scotland's Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will pay her respects to the victims of the Ibrox stadium disaster as she attends a memorial service and minutes silence at the ground on January 3rd to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the tragedy.

Ms Sturgeon, whose constituency includes Ibrox stadium said: "Glasgow and football are inseparable.  This tragedy touched the lives of people across Glasgow and beyond and had a lasting impact on the area.

"My thoughts are today with the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy and those who were in Ibrox that day.

"Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Ibrox disaster shows the loss of life has not been forgotten.  I hope that will bring some comfort to the families of all those affected."
