SNP members gather to share policy ideas
Saturday, 04 September 2010

Nicola Sturgeon MSPToday sees SNP members from across the country gather in Perth to discuss ideas and policies for the forthcoming election.

The SNP will discuss ways in which Scotland can deal with looming cuts while continuing to protect and improve the services that matter to the Scottish people.

At the meeting members will engage in round table discussions with MSPs, Councillors, Ministers and Cabinet Secretaries, chaired by Depute Leader and Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

SNP members are also receiving ballot papers over the next few days to cast their vote in the regional list selection ballots.

Speaking during a break in discussions, Nicola Sturgeon said:

"Sharing ideas and discussing policy is an essential part of the political process with the public and with party members.

"It is great to hear members ideas and the views of their friends, communities and work colleagues on how Scotland can move forward.

"Today has been a great opportunity for members to come together, sit round the table with Ministers, MSPs, Councillors and Cabinet Secretaries to discuss ideas for a better Scotland. I am pleased so many members want to play a direct part in that process either by attending today or by sending in their views.

"The SNP is heading back to Parliament after the summer break in a strong position in the polls. As the focus shifts to the Holyrood elections next year, the SNP is listening to the views of party members and the public as we build a platform to take Scotland forward."
