Glasgow MSPs last night reacted with fury at the decision to raid another £184 million form the Lottery Fund in Scotland aimed at supporting good causes in some of the most deprived areas of Scotland and particularly in Glasgow.
Glasgow Labour MPs heavily criticised for voting for the Post Office closures and for not bothering to turn up for the recent debate on the closures have once again been exposed as failing in their duty to stand up for their constituents in Glasgow.
Sandra White MSP said: "The people of Glasgow deserve better from the Labour MPs representing them. Time and time again these MPs have shown there contempt for Glasgow, voting to close our Local Post Offices, telling us debates on its future were pointless and now having the sheer brass neck to vote to take money away from the hundreds of needy local projects which rely on this funding for their survival is indefensible.
"I would like to know the views of the Glasgow Labour MSPs on this matter do they have the guts to stand up for Glasgow or will they also simply fall into line with this terrible decision."
And Bob Doris MSP criticised the recent scaremongering over vulnerable groups saying: "It's bad enough that the Labour Party have been spreading fear of funding cuts amongst some of the most vulnerable groups in society.
"But now NOT ONE Glasgow Labour MP has stood up for those self same groups when the London Government voted to pillage £184 million from community groups and transfer it instead to the massively over budget London Olympics.
"I look forward to them explaining their actions to the people of Glasgow."
Bill Kidd MSP added: "Glasgow Labour MPs don't represent either the interests of Glasgow or Scotland. They make decisions in Westminster to close post offices, and bleat about it later. Now they vote to take away money from good causes. It's high time they were held to account over these decisions and I hope their actions are highlighted so that the people of Glasgow get a clear picture of their MPs priorities."
And Bashir Ahmed MSP, whist welcoming the Olympics said: "Just as everyone else in Scotland I am extremely excited by the Olympic Games coming to London in 2012. However, even before the bid was launched we were promised that Scotland would not lose out. No amount of spin can hide the fact that Scottish Labour MP's have broken this promise and unfortunately as a result many local community projects will suffer."
