Following news that the SNP Government have given a commitment to underwrite the vital upgrading of Dalmarnock Station in Glasgow to the tune of £2.3 million, Mr Doris welcomed the move as an ongoing commitment of the Scottish Government to a range of Glasgow projects and called on Stephen Purcell to raise his game and not let party politics get in the way of running the city of Glasgow.

Despite being given a clear indication the Government would support Dalmarnock station Stephen Purcell chose to scaremonger in the media following a meeting with the First Minister yesterday.

Mr Doris an SNP MSP for Glasgow said: "This is further evidence that the SNP Government are committed to Glasgow.

“The Dalmarnock Station refurbishment is essential to the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and I welcome the Scottish Government's £2.3m financial guarantee.

“There is a growing feeling that Glasgow Labour are letting party politics cloud their judgement in dealing with the Scottish Government.  I understand that Mr Purcell was left in no doubt after his meeting with the First Minister that the Scottish Government's commitment would be forthcoming.

“Mr Purcell may want to reflect on how he conducted himself during his meeting with the First Minister as well as his subsequent actions. It is Labour's priorities that seem to be all over the place.

“Despite his rhetoric Mr Purcell did not ask for GARL to be reinstated during the meeting – and it seems Labour have dropped that from its budget plans. More worryingly he refused to work with the Scottish Government to deliver on the FastLink project which the Scottish Government are financially supporting.

“Every Glasgow MSP is disappointed over the loss of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link but Glasgow Labour need to ditch the party politics and work positively on the areas that they do agree with the Scottish Government.
