MSP welcomes Enterprize Zone to Glasgow
Wednesday, 18 January 2012

Bob Doris MSPBob Doris, MSP for Glasgow, welcomed yesterday’s (Tuesday) announcement by the SNP Government about the creation of Creative Clyde – a 14 hectare site based at Pacific Quay offering opportunities for creative industries.

He said: "This is very exciting news for Glasgow, which is far and away the most dynamic city when it comes to creative industries not only in Scotland, but in the whole UK.

"Having campaigned for an Enterprise Zone to come to Glasgow, I very much welcome that the Scottish Government has listened.

"In the past 12 months Glasgow has attracted top Hollywood film producers and actors including Brad Pitt and Halle Berry thanks to our fantastic architecture, expertise on hand and most of all - the willingness of Glaswegians to cooperate.

"2012 is the year of Creative Scotland and there is every reason to be positive that this will bring more success to this city which has produced the last three year’s Turner Prize winners who were all either from or resident in Glasgow.

"The Creative Clyde Zone will build on the success of the Digital Media Quarter which in the last 10 years has attracted the Headquarter functions for STV and BBC Scotland, among others to Pacific Quay."
