Commenting on the free school meals pilot scheme which starts today, Bob Doris MSP, who has campaigned on this policy for many years, said: "Today is a defining moment. It is a step change for both the health of Glasgow and the social cohesion of our city's communities.
"Free nutritious school meals for classes P1 to P3 will pay Scotland's tax payers back many times over the years and the initial £5m is a great investment in our children and future generations.
"I look forward to a successful pilot project and the extension of the scheme across Scotland."
