SNP MSP for Glasgow Region, Bob Doris, has warmly welcomed over £1 million of Big Lottery funding that has been allocated to charities and community groups across Glasgow.
The Glasgow MSP welcomed the latest tranche of funding for the city but drew attention to the fact that a sizeable proportion of lottery cash is still flowing south of the border to fund the London Olympics.
Welcoming the latest investment in Glasgow projects, Bob Doris MSP said: "I am delighted that organisations such as The Dash Club in Milton have benefited from this funding. Having seen first-hand the wonderful work done by the Milton Dash Club, I know this funding will be a huge boost to this organisation that does an impeccable amount of good work in the North of Glasgow.
"The Big Lottery Fund provides vital support to many community groups and charities across the city, so I am naturally disappointed that millions of pounds continue to be diverted to London to fund the 2012 Olympic Games.
"Many of the organisations and community groups applying for big lottery funding are volunteer based and I believe that they should be prioritised over the London Olympics. These organisations are at the heart of our community and I know I speak for every citizen in Glasgow when I wish them well for the future."
