Doris welcomes investment and jobs in spending review
Wednesday, 21 September 2011

Bob Doris MSPSNP Finance Secretary John Swinney has today announced the Scottish Government Spending Review. Glasgow MSP Bob Doris said: "The Scottish Government is using every power at its disposal to secure economic recovery. We now have lower unemployment and higher employment than in the rest of the UK and today's measures will further improve Scotland's recovery and create jobs.

"New efficient ways of providing the public services we all depend on along with investment in jobs and infrastructure will secure a more prosperous outlook for our economy. Protecting existing jobs and creating new jobs remains our top priority.

"The continuation of the council tax freeze will be welcomed by householders across the land as well as new investment in early years, broadband and renewables.

"None of the other parties have offered the vision or leadership to take Scotland forward. The Scottish Government is using the powers our parliament currently has to maximum effect and that will make a difference for people across Scotland. Our best option for long-term prosperity lies in Independence for Scotland with full economic powers vested in the Scottish people through its parliament in Edinburgh. As the SNP Government in Edinburgh continues to improve the Scottish economy despite massive budget cuts from Westminster, the case for transferring full economic powers to Edinburgh has become overwhelming."
