Bob Doris MSP keeps up pressure on Wendy Alexander to apologies for GHA housing fiasco
Tuesday, 25 September 2007

GHA housing'If an apology is good enough for New Labour lovies in Bournemouth following their Scottish election defeat, then it's good enough for the GHA tenants and owner occupiers of Glasgow that have been let down by Wendy Alexander"

Speaking on the eve of the Housing Debate in the Scottish Parliament, Bob Doris, Glasgow SNP list MSP has stepped up his call for Wendy Alexander to apologise for her part in the disastrous handling of the Glasgow Housing stock transfer.

Ms Alexander was Communities Minister and the key architect at the time the blueprint for the future of Glasgow's housing stock was being designed.  The recently published Communities Scotland report concluded that the Glasgow Housing Association had ‘no clear operational policy or timescale for delivering second stage transfer at the time of the transfer’.

Mr Doris said:

"The blame for such incompetence must be laid firmly at Wendy Alexander's door and she must stand up and be counted during tomorrow afternoon's parliamentary debate on the GHA"

"I'm looking for her to apologise for her failure to deliver community ownership in Glasgow"

"It’s vital that she shows such humility if Labour are to ever be trusted again by Glasgow's tenants"

"If an apology is good enough for New Labour lovies in Bournemouth following Labour's Scottish election defeat, then it's good enough for the GHA tenants and owner occupiers in Glasgow that have been let down by Labour and Wendy Alexander".

"It is now for the new SNP government to provide a more strategic approach to taking forward the social rented housing sector in Glasgow"
