SNP MSP for Glasgow Bob Doris has urged Glaswegians to take part in Swimathon 2009, which runs from 16th to 19th April. Swimathon has been taking place for 23 years and has raised over £32million for charity. With options including ‘Distance Challenge’ and ‘Simply Swim,’ you don’t have to be the world’s greatest swimmer to take part. Marie Curie Cancer Care have organised the event to raise vital funds.

Bob Doris said: "Swimathon is a great chance to not only have fun with your friends but also raise money for a vital charity. It doesn't matter your age or ability- you can still get involved and play your part and help all those whose life's have been marred by cancer.

"There are a number of swimming pools in the city taking part in this years fundraiser. So give them a call and get involved. As always I know kind hearted Glaswegian's will do their bit for charity. I would encourage as many people as possible to get involved.
