Welcome for charities £1m boost from Postcode Lottery "A right belter of a birthday" - Bill Kidd MSP

Glasgow SNP MSP Bill Kidd has welcomed reports that over £1 million has been raised for charities across Scotland from the hugely successful People's Postcode Lottery as it gets ready to celebrate its first anniversary.

Among the charities which will benefit from this money are Maggie's Centre, CHILDREN 1st and the Scottish Wildlife Trust

Maggie's Centre helps and supports those suffering from cancer; CHILDREN 1st ParentLine service for 12 months; ensures that every child in Scotland has a safe childhood and the Scottish Wildlife Trust's maintains a network of over 120 reserves throughout Scotland.

The anniversary is set to coincide with St. Andrews Day and will see the biggest prize so far, the 'Postcode Belter' which will bring £1 million to a lucky Scot!

Commenting Bill Kidd MSP: "I'm delighted to hear that they've exceeded all expectations and raised over £1 million within their first year; this is great news for all the worthwhile causes The Postcode Lottery has helped."

"It's been long time coming and hope it will continue to go from strength to strength benefiting communities and charities alike."
