Responding to the recent announcement that the Arms Control Association has nominated the Scottish Parliament for the award of 'Arms Control Person of the Year' for its vote on June 14 against the renewal of Trident, SNP MSP Bill Kidd today (Monday) said:

"This fantastic news shows the impact that the SNP Government-led decision in the Scottish Parliament last June has had internationally.

"To those who accused the SNP of simply grandstanding it should be a sign that we are leading the way and that Scotland is taken more seriously on the International stage than it sadly is by our small-minded opposition politicians at home.

"All of Scotland can be proud of this nomination of our Scottish Parliament for 'Arms Control Person of the Year'."
