Bill Kidd MSP urges Glasgow youth groups to claim 'Cashback for Communities' funding
Thursday, 22 April 2010

Bill Kidd MSPBill Kidd, SNP MSP for Glasgow, is urging youth groups in Glasgow to take advantage of the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities Small Grants Scheme, ahead of the 1st June deadline for funding.

The initiative enables funds received through the seizure of cash from Scotland’s criminals to be reinvested and used for something positive, for youth projects across the whole of Scotland.

The scheme is designed to support local volunteer led groups to enhance their programmes for young people or assist with the start-up costs of youth groups – with grants of up to £2,000 being made available to local youth groups, providing they meet the requisite criteria.

Commenting, Mr Kidd said: "The funding boost from the CashBack for Communities Small Grants Scheme offers a real opportunity for community youth projects in Glasgow. I would encourage any youth projects, or anyone interested in establishing a youth project, to apply at the earliest opportunity.

"I believe it is an innovative and modern idea from the SNP Government to invest money from the proceeds of crime in Scotland’s youth. This will ensure they receive the highest standard of youth projects in their area."
