BILL KIDD MSP CALLS FOR ALCOHOL AWARENESS WEEK FOR YOUNGSTERS
Bill Kidd MSP calls for alcohol awareness week for youngsters
Bill Kidd today welcomed the Minister for Public Health's support to look into holding an Alcohol Awareness Week specifically targeted at young people in light of the success of the First ever Scottish Alcohol Awareness Week held in October this year.
Mr Kidd said: "In the run up to Christmas it is essential that people are aware of the dangers of drinking to much. Many youngsters will no doubt also have a drink and if we are to change attitudes over the long term then we need to pay real attention to the next generation in order to achieve this sea change in attitude.
"The week in October was supported a number of stakeholders and I hope they can be brought on board to support an initiative like this one, which I envisage could be rolled out in Schools and through Youth organisations.
"I also welcome the £85 million investment announced in the budget for alcohol awareness and related programmes and look forward to working with the Minister to drive forward this initiative"
