Bill Kidd MSP

Bill is MSP for Glasgow Anniesland. He previously represented the SNP as MSP for Glasgow Region (2007-11), and has also stood in numerous Parliamentary Elections, both Holyrood and Westminster.

He has also represented the SNP Trade Union Group on the Party's NEC.

His major political interests are the development of policies to eradicate poverty, job creation, housing policy and an end to the nuclear power and weapons programmes of successive British Governments.

More care for carers under SNP - over 10,000 respite weeks delivered

More and better care for Scotland's carers has been delivered under the SNP Government as new figures show that more than 10,000 additional weeks of respite care - a key manifesto pledge - have been provided to Scotland's carers.

In 2006-07 163 640 weeks of respite were provided for Scotland's carers. In the last year that reached 203,360 weeks of valuable time out and support for the thousands of carers across the country as an extra 7,650 weeks were provided in one year.

Anti-Trident conference to gather at Holyrood

The campaign against nuclear weapons comes to Holyrood today with a meeting of the Nuclear weapons Convention in the Scottish Parliament.

The meeting, which marks the Scottish launch of the campaign, will hear from representatives including former New Zealand disarmament minister Marion Hobbs and Rebecca Johnson, Vice Chair of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.

Questions for LibDems on Trident pledge

Trident submarineClaims at the Lib Dem conference that the decision on Trident will not be taken this Parliament are being questioned after Defence Minister Liam Fox was reported as saying he would only delay the decision by four to six months.

The SNP had welcomed Lib Dem claims by Tavish Scott, Lynne Featherstone and now Paddy Ashdown that they had influenced the decision and that replacement would be delayed as one step towards abolition.  However the comments attributed to Liam Fox throw doubt on these assertions.

'Recipe for disaster' with return of Twittergate candidate

Bill Kidd MSPCommenting on reports that Stuart MacLennan - the Labour candidate who was supposedly suspended from the Labour party and its employ after his insulting comments about the elderly, his prospectice constituents and other politicians on twitter were revealed during the election is now working for gaffe prone MSP Frank McAveety Glasgow MSP Bill Kidd, a member of the Parliament's Equal Opportunities Committee.

"This is clearly the office for inappropriate and offensive comments. Two men and their big mouths in one office is a recipie for disaster.
