Tomorrow SNP MSP for Glasgow Anne McLaughlin will host a meeting in the Scottish Parliament where an eye witness update will be given on the situation in Haiti.
MSPs will hear from the DEC and Islamic Relief about the work that they are doing on the ground and be updated on how the situation currently stands. Adil Husseini from Islamic Relief, who arrived in Haiti 36 hours after the devastating earthquake and spent a week in the area, will also give his account of events along with a visual presentation of photos and video footage.
Speaking ahead of the event Ms McLaughlin said: "It will be an honour to hear from those who have first hand experience of the situation in Haiti. We know from recent media reports that although much aid and financial assistance has been given, there is still much more to be done.
"The reason I am hosting tomorrow's event is for politicians of all parties to get together with those who have been there, to see how Scotland as a nation can help.
"Although I congratulate the Scottish Government in giving £250 000 in financial aid, I know that there is still much more that the people of Scotland want to do and tomorrow we will be discussing how we go best about that."
