Strike averted
Saturday, 09 December 2006
The SNP on Glasgow City Council welcomes the cancellation of the strike that was expected on three days this week. It all seemed so unnecessary. More of a breakdown in communication and trust than anything else.

At Friday's Executive Committee Labour councillors and officers were asked how the dispute had been settled. They stated it was by better explaining and re-emphasising what had already been on offer.

SNP Group Leader, John Mason, said later, "Whatever the rights and wrongs of this dispute, it should not have had to go so near the brink of a strike. We in the SNP have repeatedly stated that it was wrong for anyone's pay to be cut and if Labour had been a little more willing to listen, we might have got all this sorted out much earlier."
