The announcement that £50 million may be spent on Queen Street Station sounds like good news. But will all the money be spent on offices, shops, and flats? How much will be spent on the passengers.
One of the essentials must surely be to increase the circulation space for the passengers in the concourse. The introduction of barriers and ticket machines has severely restricted the room passengers have while waiting for their trains. The suspicion is that Network Rail and ScotRail only want to cram in more shops or other methods of extracting cash from the passengers. Will they ask passengers what they want? Will they listen to what the passengers say? Or are they just seen as customers to be exploited?
