£44.9m Bonus for City Economy
Glasgow SNP Regeneration & the Economy Spokesperson, Councillor Craig Mackay, hailed today’s announcement of the level of uptake of the Scottish Government’s Small Business Bonus Scheme as “fantastic news for Glasgow”. Glasgow’s small business community benefited to the tune of £44.9m from the mall Business Bonus Scheme. Speaking after the release of new analysis, showing that thousands of businesses in Glasgow now pay no business rates at all, with a many more paying discounted business rates, Councillor Mackay said: “This is fantastic news for Glasgow’s small businesses. In a time of severe economic difficulty, when the policies of the UK Government have seen the country enter a double-dip recession, it is tremendous news that such positive support for our business base can be announced”.
The Small Business Bonus Scheme is one which supports the lifeblood of our economy. The SNP in Glasgow are ambitious and determined to build on this excellent news, as we plan to bring Glasgow out of recession faster than other cities in Scotland and across Britain. If a business thinks they may be eligible I would encourage them to sign up for the Small Business Bonus Scheme as soon as they can.
“Our positive ideas for Glasgow’s retail districts, supporting entrepreneurship in the city and proposals to get young people into work within our small businesses will help Glasgow flourish in the years ahead”.
