Hunter welcomes Enterprise Zones to Glasgow
Wednesday, 18 January 2012

Cllr-Allison-HunterCreative industries to benefit

Commenting on the Scottish Government’s announcement of new Enterprise Zones for Scotland and the news that Pacific Quay has been chosen for support of creative industries, Glasgow SNP Leader of the Opposition Councillor Allison Hunter said: “The announcement of a new enterprise zone in Glasgow is to be welcomed.  The creative industries are already developing a strong base at Pacific Quay, so incentives for additional growth in this sector will form a strong base from which to generate new jobs in the city.

“Additional Enterprise Zones in areas neighbouring Glasgow will provide exciting opportunities for this city.  Our strong further and higher education sector, in both their new graduates and research and development work will have an important role to play.  These new Enterprise Zones could provide further new employment opportunities for Glaswegians and new markets for existing firms in Glasgow.

“The Scottish Government has indicated that local government will play a key role in supporting Enterprise Zones and the SNP in Glasgow will monitor Glasgow’s actions on this with interest.”
