Glasgow Labour 'in disarray'
Friday, 28 October 2011

Cllr Allison HunterHunter comments on Labour turmoil

Commenting on the news that Glasgow Labour has continued their cull of councillors by sacking many of those members who failed to pass Labour’s selection process, SNP Leader of the Opposition Councillor Allison Hunter said:

“The Labour administration in Glasgow is in complete disarray.  Labour’s leader calls this a sign of determination, but it looks more like an act of desperation by the captain of a sinking ship.

“In contrast, the SNP Group is developing our platform of ideas for next May and has a strong team of candidates waiting in the wings.

“We are taking nothing for granted in the run up to 2012, but our stability and positivity stand in stark contrast to our opponents.”

Notes:

1.      Labour have deselected, suspended or have retiring around 24 members of their current Glasgow Group.  Many of those deselected were experienced members of the administration.

2.      Reports today suggest that the ruling Labour administration has removed many of those outgoing councillors from their positions within the Council - http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/politics/20-are-sacked-in-council-clear-out-1.1131712
