Again it remains to be seen how this new committee will differ from the old Policy & Resources. One obvious change was that each Labour councillor sat beside his or her director. These councillors then spoke to their department's papers which they did with varying degrees of success. City Treasurer Ruth Simpson handled the finance portfolio with a fair degree of competence but some of her colleagues needed a lot more assistance from their staff member!
