The new Scrutiny Committees are allowed four non Councillors on them and at Thursday's Development & Regeneration Services Committee these appointments were made. Labour proposed reps from Scottish Enterprise, Chamber of Commerce, Local Economic Development Companies, and Glasgow Conservation Trust (which apparently does not even exist yet).
The SNP felt that as employment is high on this Department's agenda it would have been useful to have had a trade union representative instead of one of the others. SNP Cllrs Bashir Ahmad, Iris Gibson, and John Mason voted for this but Labour blocked the proposal.
