Chirnsyde Community Initiative
Friday, 15 September 2006
At long last the independent report on Chirnsyde Community Initiative has been published. This criticises many of the management practices and in particular the fact that members were not informed of the AGM. As the Management Committee is meant to be elected at each year's AGM, it calls into question the validity of the current committee.

Therefore, at the Executive Committee the SNP called for the committee to be suspended while further investigations were carried out. But this was refused.

However, at least there is movement in the right direction. The SNP's Cllr Billy McAllister and Bailie Iris Gibson sit on the Culture & Leisure Services Scrutiny Committee which will carry out the further review. So there will be ample opportunity for local councillor Billy McAllister in particular to dig for more information and explanations.
