While congratulating Charlie Gordon on his new job as Jack McConnell's
tea boy, the SNP is calling for him to stand down immediately as
councillor for Knightswood Park. Previous Labour
councillors elected to parliament have hung on to their council wards
for months. And Charlie himself was critical of Tommy
Sheridan for trying to do both jobs.
Cllr Gordon is quoted as saying, "My commitment is to the people of
Cathcart." He is, therefore, obviously no longer committed
to the people of Knightswood and should allow them to choose a new
councillor as soon as possible.
The SNP looks forward to contesting the up-coming by-election and
demonstrating that it is the clear alternative to Labour in the City.
