The SNP and SSP again voted to halt the headlong rush to push Building Services out of the Council. This was on the agenda of Policy & Resources Committee on Tuesday 20th.
According to Council officials, the move to set up two Limited Liability Partnerships will help Building Services compete for private work. However, they can already compete for Glasgow Housing Association's contract so it will not really help there.
The SNP considers that only as a last resort should Building Services be separated from the Council. Unions are due to meet the minister Tom McCabe on Monday 26th, so it seems premature for the Council to make this decision before all other avenues have been explored.
