Another footbridge proposed
Sunday, 21 May 2006
Having previously backed down on plans for a new footbridge across the Clyde at Broomielaw/Tradeston, the Council seems to be planning to waste £20 million or so on a more basic one. Despite an existing bridge only 100 metres upstream.

The SNP says, "The original expensive bridge was meant to draw tourists to the River. It is doubtful whether it was ever intended to help pedestrians across the Clyde as another bridge was so close. But perhaps Labour councillors are afraid of losing face if they cancel the project altogether. There seems little need for a bridge at this location. And if it is only a cheap and nasty one, it will hardly attract tourists."
