SNP will work with trade union, the Scottish Government and other partners to ensure a brighter future for Glasgow's children
An SNP administration in Glasgow will ensure the provision of at least 600 hours of early years education. Glasgow SNP recognise the singular importance of those first years to the life chances of our citizens.
SNP Education spokeswoman, Councillor Jennifer Dunn is determined to build on the lessons learned by Glasgow and other local authorities to get the best for Glasgow’s early years learners. Councillor Dunn said of the SNP proposals in early years: “Glasgow has a strong nurture philosophy in early years and the SNP will continue to support and expand nurture in the city. The SNP is committed to working with the Scottish Government to introduce at least 600 hours of early years education for Glaswegians – bringing increased opportunities to our children and to parents across the city.

An SNP administration in Glasgow will look again at our twinning arrangements with different cities across the world, to establish where Glasgow’s future lies, and publish the findings for public scrutiny.
Glasgow has a proud tradition of forging and developing international links; entering into twinning partnerships with cities who share bonds of culture, a heritage of industrialism, invention and innovation. The city is also involved with a number of international organisations, from city lighting to roses.

On the day the SNP's national local government manifesto reaffirms the SNP's commitment to freezing council tax, Glasgow SNP challenges Labour in Glasgow to set out their position once and for all on the council tax freeze.
Glasgow Labour’s position on the council tax freeze has been confused and inconsistent.
The city’s Labour MSPs voted against a council tax freeze in the Scottish Parliament – but then committed to a 2 year freeze just before the Scottish Parliament elections just last year.

Glasgow SNP has welcomed new figures showing that violent crime in the Strathclyde Police Force area has been reduced by a third since 2008.
Incidents in Strathclyde Police region fell from 7,810 in 2007/08 to 5,222 in 2011/12 - a reduction of 2,588.
• Murders have fallen by 16 per cent and attempted murders by 42 per cent. • Serious assaults have also been reduced by 1,511 in the same four year period. • And detection rates rose from 52.7 per cent in 2007/08 to 71.4 per cent for 2011/12.
Glasgow’s SNP spokesperson on community safety, David Turner, commented: “These figures are good news for Glaswegians.

Glasgow SNP will ensure the basics are carried out correctly in Glasgow. An SNP administration will reverse underinvestment in Glasgow’s roads and carry out a programme of road reconstruction in the city, to combat the decline of our road infrastructure.
Glasgow SNP Sustainability and the Environment spokesperson, Councillor Kenny McLean, said: “Like our rail and air infrastructure, our road network is a vital piece of our city’s transport web. We believe that Glasgow’s roads can be better managed for the benefit of road users and, should the people elect an SNP administration in May, we will make the changes needed to improve the state of Glasgow’s roads.

Council Tax Benefit cuts could hit more than 100,000 Glaswegians
The SNP’s Glasgow Council Group Leader Allison Hunter has condemned the UK Government for cutting the budget for supporting council tax payers by 10 per cent. Official figures show that 101,610 people are in receipt of council tax benefit in Glasgow. This includes pensioners and low paid households which are struggling to get by.

Council Tax Benefit Cuts could hit more than 100,000 Glaswegians

The SNP’s Glasgow Council Group Leader Councillor Allison Hunter has condemned the UK Government for cutting the budget for supporting council tax payers by 10 per cent.
Official figures show that 101,610 people are in receipt of council tax benefit in Glasgow. This includes pensioners and low paid households which are struggling to get by.
The UK Government is abolishing council tax benefit and transferring funding to Scotland – but in doing so they are slashing the budget by 10 per cent, creating a £40m black hole.
