West End gets best cleansing service |

The Parks & Facilities Committee on Wednesday heard that west end Council wards 11 to 16 will continue to receive an enhanced sweeping and de-littering service in the longer term. Originally these wards were given extra staff on a trial basis and the hope was that the better service might be rolled out to other parts of the City. However, the "trial" has now become a permanent part of the Council's service to the west end. And no funds are being made available to give a similar provision in the other 73 wards.
John Mason said, "I am delighted for the folk of the west end that they are getting a really good cleansing service. If it was a trial, then I would have no problem with one area benefiting for a while. But it is unfair for residents in other parts of Glasgow who also have to pay their Council Tax. Surely the cleansing should be done on a basis of need rather than favouring one area over another."
