The first motion on the Conference agenda was a resolution welcoming the Commonwealth Games bid for 2014. It was noted that the Games would bring tourists and be a financial boost to Glasgow. However, it was also noted that the present Labour administrations in Holyrood and George Square were making virtually no commitment to new investment if the bid was won. It would be disappointing if there was no legacy from the Games, either in sporting or transport facilities.
