At Thursday's Council meeting the SNP Group also called for quick action on getting a railway station for Parkhead. John Mason had submitted a written question pointing out that when the Airdrie-Bathgate line is re-opened, this will allow direct trains from Parkhead to and from Edinburgh. With the football stadium, the new national indoor sports arena, and the shopping centre, this is an area that is crying out for a station.
Afterwards John Mason said, "We have been given bland assurances for a number of years now. Surely it is time for action. SPT say it is high on their priority list but I also want to see the City Council pushing this forward." |
