Knightswood Park by-election |

The SNP has welcomed Charlie Gordon's decision to stand down as a city
councillor. As demanded by us, he has resigned promptly and
the by-election is to be on 10 November. This is a very
safe Labour seat so anything other than a huge Labour majority will be
a blow for them.
Graeme Hendry is to be the SNP candidate in the
by-election. His selection was welcomed by the SNP
Group. John Mason, the Group Leader, said, "Graeme would
make an extremely welcome addition to the SNP Council Group in
particular and to the opposition in general in the City
Chambers. Having 71 councillors tends to make the
Labour Party arrogant, so another SNP councillor would certainly make
them sit up, take notice, and listen to the population more
seriously. It is unhealthy for the whole city to be so
dominated by one party, especially as they are backed by only around
50% of the electorate."
