At Thursday's Council meeting there was a debate on the possibility of an armed attack on Iran. There was widespread concern that the United States might be building up towards this.
However, Labour and the LibDems argued that an attack on Iran would be acceptable if the United Nations authorised it. By contrast the SNP argued that it was not the place of the United Nations to authorise attacks on member states. Therefore, even if the UN approved it, a war with Iran was unacceptable. |
