The SNP has long been sceptical about the Glasgow magazine! It only contains good news and features lots of smiling faces, especially of Labour councillors. No room in this magazine for debates or news of anything going wrong!
At Wednesday's Personnel & Administration Committee the printing contract of £171,000 was up for approval. The SNP expressed their usual reservations but were prepared to leave it at that.
However, Labour's Cllr Irene Graham then came in to say how important the magazine was, "ESPECIALLY LEADING UP TO NEXT MAY'S ELECTIONS." Well that set alarm bells ringing as this seemed to be a clear statement that the magazine is seen by Labour councillors as a propaganda weapon to keep themselves in power. As a result the SNP moved to cut the budget for this but were defeated by 11 votes to 3.
