Voter Survey

Community Survey Launched
Wednesday, 18 January 2006
Milton by-election candidate Billy MacAllister has pledged to make sure that he, or one of his campaign team, will visit every home in the Milton council ward. This is part of a community survey initiative where every voter will have the opportunity to have their say on the issue in their area that matter most to them.

Of the community survey Billy said:

"I have been campaigning in Maryhill for the last 20 years, 10 of them in Milton. I have a track record of helping the people of Milton and consider myself to be pretty clued up on the issues effecting peoples lives there. However it is important that everyone gets their view on what matters most to them within the ward.

"My community survey has only recently been launched and already there have been hundreds of responses. The final total will almost certainly be in the thousands and that’s an overwhelming response. It is clear that the voters have not been listened to for some time and are desperate to have their say. I will not only listen to them but also more importantly act to improve their lives."

Of the community surveys completed and returned so far Billy said:

"I will release the full survey findings later in the campaign but already the issues of policing, crime and anti social behaviour, fear of gangs, housing and a lack of leisure facilities are being raised time and again as serious matters concerning the local community. The initial findings are truly alarming and urgent action is needed immediately. I am already taking action on the issues raised by many people but I will be able to do much, much more for the community when elected."
