SNP candidate challenges Labour to fight a positive campaign
Friday, 09 October 2009

SNP Candidate in Glasgow North East David Kerr today challenged Labour to keep the campaign clean and positive to win back public trust in politics.

In a letter to Willie Bain after Labour finally agreed to set a date for the campaign, following months of delay Mr Kerr urged Labour to fight a positive campaign.

Mr Kerr said: "The SNP campaign will focus on the positive difference the SNP has already made in this constituency and the strong voice an SNP MP will give this constituency after 74 years of Labour.

"In just two years of an SNP Government we have helped local business with the small business bonus, frozen the council tax for families during the recession, cut prescription charges,  invested in further education, jobs and training and cracked down on crime with more police on the streets.

"This election has come about because politicans lost the public's trust. Labour's decision to delay the election for six months has not helped to restore public confidence in the London Parliament.

"It's time to rebuild that trust - with a positive campaign that supports Glasgow North East and delivers the jobs and opportunties this community needs."

"That is what I will be doing.  I urge Labour to do the same."
